Queenstown Hawkerfest

Queenstown Hawkerfest is a festival organised in collaboration with the Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisations to celebrate the vibrancy of hawker culture within the Queenstown estate, as well as to commemorate 70 years since Queenstown came into existence.
Client: Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisations (Queenstown)
Agency: DSTNCT
The five participating hawker centres include ABC Brickworks, Alexandra Village, Margaret Drive, Mei Ling and Tanglin Halt. This campaign involved the branding of the Queenstown estate, the 70th anniversary logomark, as well as the actual Hawkerfest event.
The festival garnered immense support from Senior Parliamentary Secretary
Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Social and Family Development, and Adviser to Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisations (Queenstown),
Mr Eric Chua.
Residents of Queenstown (and Singaporeans to a larger extent) were encouraged to vote for their favourite hawker stalls, as well as the most nostalgic food items. The hawkers themselves were involved, as short videos provided a peek into the lives behind people selling Queenstown's favourite foods.
Line art created for the participating Hawker Centres.
An exciting part of Hawkerfest involved collaborations between cafés and hawker stalls to create dishes that incorporated the traditional as well as the contemporary.
Lastly, it culminated in a day event held at ABC Brickworks that involved Mr Eric Chua officiating the launch of Hawkerfest, a Singapore Book of Records entry for the largest plate of chicken rice, influencer Zermatt Neo downing that said plate of chicken rice, as well as a speed eating contest.
